Pearl Bistro. Photo courtesy of Southside Vegan Score Contributor Rebecca BolteMinor note: I couldn't go to all of these places personally, so some were suggested by other nice folks. I tried to provide a quote from Yelp or Twitter on their veggie broth or vegan goodness, but this doesn't mean that the restaurant is actually good. You'll have to check out the Yelp reviews or try 'em to know for sure.
Major note: none of these places are 100% vegan, so always ask about the broth before you order - things change fast, ya know.
*Oh wait, one more thing! This list is incomplete. Please comment with any other places that you know of that offer vegan phở in and around Seattle and I'll add it to the list. Thanks friends!

OK. Your turn! I'd love to know what you think about any of these places. Which are the best? Are Molly and I the only ones who love Than Brothers?

Lucky's Pho in Fremont have veggie pho, though I've never been there myself.
ReplyDeleteDouble check with the Than Brothers location you go to--Jeff & I tried to go to the one in Bellevue once, but it turned out their "vegetarian" pho used beef broth. At least they had a sign/note on the menu telling people.
Thanks Anika! This post was heaven sent. I really love Pho and crave it all the time. I'm a southy and usually go to loving hut (which you left out on this post but I'm guessing that's because it is a pretty obvious choice.) I also love to make my own.
ReplyDeleteWe usually go to Moonlight. I had a big bowl of it last weekend. Good stuff. Thanks for the list, now we can expand our options.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brett and Emily. I forgot about Loving Hut and had no idea about Lucky's!
ReplyDeleteEmily, thanks for the heads up about Than Bro, how strange that their Bellevue location doesn't have the veggie broth option. Like there are no veg east siders? Oh well, I removed it from the list.
ReplyDeleteWait, Lucky's? I go there like every other day from work for their tofu sandwich, but was under the belief that I couldn't eat their pho because all their broth is meat-based. I'm pretty sure that's what the guy there told me...
ReplyDeleteSuzy, will you ask Lucky's next time you are in there? There seems to be evidence that they have veggie broth on Yelp (not very reliable, but since neither Emily or I have been there, would be awesome to have confirmation. :)
ReplyDeleteFor folks further north, 5 Seasons on Aurora @ 97th, Tic Tac Pho on Aurora @ 145th and New's Noodles on Greenwood @ 87th all have good veggie options. Still, my fave is Than Vi on the Ave. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI strongly suspect I got food poisoning from UnPhoGettable on Greenwood @ Holman, plus it was seriously mediocre food even if it isn't what made me sick, so I'd skip that one. (Hubby was unimpressed with their meat offerings as well.)
Is the veggie pho at Pho Viet Ahn next to Bamboo Garden on Roy not vegan? They give you lots of fresh veggies and you can get either fried or fresh tofu..
ReplyDelete-KatieP
second to KatieP's comment about Pho Viet Ahn - i also believe they are vegan. They are a bit pricey but you get *a lot* for your money (imho) and the food was very tasty as well:
ReplyDeleteBelow is a pic i had taken of their food when i went there, as i posted it on facebook due to being so impressed:

Anika you made me crave pho so I went to Pho Viet Anh to pick up lunch! They said the veggie pho is vegan and I also love it because it's MSG-free (can't eat the msg or I'll get a migraine)...

ReplyDeleteThere's no way that you're wrong! Than bros. is by far the best.
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh this post makes me soooo happy! I literally eat pho at least 3 times a week and I have my Tacoma standbys but never really get pho in Seattle. Mostly because if I'm in Seattle, Highline lures me in. I'll def have to check some place out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the list, I love pho! Twice I've been given beef broth when ordering the Vegetarian from Than Brothers in West Seattle though...
ReplyDeleteUh gross. I've never been to the one in West Seattle, but the one in Ballard and the one on Cap Hill has always done right by me. I hope you were able to tell right away, without eating it!
ReplyDelete@DeuceNicelTay - What are the Tacoma places? I need to go and visit my aunt and would love to know where you go!
Nhu Thuy on South 38th is my absolute favorite, followed by Pho King on MLK St and then Pho V and V on South Tacoma Way. V and V is MSG free and puts creative veggies (bell peppers and celery) in their soup which is awesome, but I think their broth is the blandest. Nhu Thuy has the best broth and Pho King has super cheap tofu bahn mi.
ReplyDeletetaylor=deucenickeltay it's logging me in weird but those are the tacoma places!
ReplyDeletethere's a Than Brothers in Federal Way on Pacific Hwy too!
ReplyDeleteLucky's does for sure have veggie broth!
ReplyDeleteComes with broccoli, cabbage, carrots, green beans, snap peas, bok choi and tofu...broth is outstanding!!!
pho le(pike and harvard)
ReplyDeletepho hiho(G-town)
pho titi(U-dist)
tofu deli(12th and jackson)
are a few more
